| I HAD UNPROTECTED SEX |
|
Doctor,
I had unprotected sex on the 8th, and I was supposed to be getting my period on the 10th, didn't get it and a doctor told me to take gynaecosid pills if I continue not to get it, so yesterday I took the pill, no bleeding yet. I have noticed a yellowish whitish discharge that has a bad small since the 8th almost, and two now i have cloudy white pee, what do you think all that means???

| AL,
Did you do a pregnancy test? When did you do it and was it negative?
Do you have burning urine or an increased frequency of urine or pain anywhere - in the vagina, while passing urine, or in the abdomen?

| No, I did not do a pregnancy test. Should I do it? When is the best time to do a pregnancy test? And no I do not have any probems with my urine - no pain, no frequency, no burning etc. Its just that the pee is somewhat cloudy - maybe it gets mixed with the vaginal discharge - I don't know. |

| Although the chances of you being pregnant is low, an episode of unprotected sex with delayed periods always merits a pregnancy test. Please get one after 14 days of the date of the missed period if you do not get your period by then. That is the best time to get a pregnancy test.
What you do have is likely to be a vaginal infection associated with a urinary tract infection. This is causing both the bad smell as well as the cloudy pee.
To decrease the infection, please take the following steps at home:
- Do not wear synthetic underwear.
- Drink plenty of water - at least 8 - 10 glasses daily.
- Drink 1 cup of cranberry juice daily.
- Take Motrin or Aleve 200mg, available OTC, thrice daily after food for 5 days.
- Take a multivitamin multimineral supplement daily.
- Do not hold your urine. Go as soon as you feel the urge.
- Please do not take more medicines to cause your period to come - if you are pregnant, it will not occur and if you are not pregnant, it should occur within 10 days of your last period.
- Please consult an Obgyn. You will need a vaginal swab to identify the organisms causing the infection as well as possibly antibiotics.
I hope this helps.
