Whitelady,
It is extremely unlikely that you could have got recent Trichomoniasis from a person with whom you have been a long time and who you know is free from the disease.
Spread of the disease through wet towels in a common locker room has been known to happen but is extremely rare. The causative organism needs warm humid conditions to survive and can survive on towels as long as the towel remains damp and warm. Drying will cause the trichomonas to die out. Spread between humans during sex is more common.
But it is also true that Trichomoniasis can remain on a man's genitals for years without producing symptoms or the man being aware of it.
So it is quite possible that your partner was infected before he met you. But you would have started to show symptoms of trichomoniasis within a few times of sex with him, since the disease shows up almost immediately in a woman.
If you have been with your partner for a long time and are beginning to show signs of the disease now, then it is likely that the disease is newly acquired.
It is possible of course that he did pick up the organism in a locker room but chances of picking it up by sexual intercourse is more.
I hope this helps. Please feel free to ask a follow-up question if you need more information.
